ISVP Managing Director joins the panel of judges for Merck Access to Health Pitch Competition ISVP MD speaks at Philippine Startup Week 2021 As part of its commitment to meet the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, Merck in partnership with TechShake successfully launched in 2021 the Access to Health Pitch Competition which aims to address healthcare challenges in low-and-middle-income countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. To ensure a great competition, key individuals from Merck and the business scene including our very own ISVP Managing Director Miguel Encarnacion were invited as panel of judges, tasked to find the best start-up with innovative solutions for access to health.

During the competition, the judges reviewed about 50 start-up applications, but one proposal from the Philippines stood out among the rest and emerged as the main winner – Medhyve.

Medhyve aims to make medical procurement easier for provincial medical institutions through a medical marketplace fitted with procurement tools and dashboards. The goal is to make medical supplies cheaper for hospitals in rural areas. This initiative can make healthcare more accessible to all patients.

Apart from opportunity to save lives and make a difference, Medhyve also received an equity-free cash prize of US$20,000.
